Definition
Listener responding, often called receptive language, is the learner's behavior as a listener: following directions, selecting or touching named items, and performing actions on request. It complements speaker behavior — manding, tacting, intraverbals.
Listener skills are foundational; many early ABA programs build a listener repertoire alongside echoic and mand training.
