Definition
Generalization is the broad term for behavior change extending across people, settings, materials, and time. Stimulus generalization refers to responding to novel stimuli; response generalization refers to producing untrained variants of the response.
Programming for generalization includes training across multiple exemplars, naturalistic targets, indiscriminable contingencies, and common stimuli. Without it, skills mastered at the table fail to appear at home or school.
