Definition
A Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP) is the document staff implement to address a target behavior. It is built from the functional hypothesis identified in the functional behavior assessment and prescribes antecedent strategies, the replacement behavior to be taught, the reinforcement plan, and the response procedures (including any safety steps).
A good BIP is short, concrete, and implementable by a new RBT in their first week. Procedural fidelity correlates directly with how observable the language is.
